London / A UK court has ruled that 24 migrant workers from Nepal and Bangladesh can sue Dyson in London over alleged forced labour at a Malaysian factory.
The workers, who were employed by Malaysian company ATA Industrial, claim they faced abusive working conditions while making components for Dyson products. Allegations include unlawful wage deductions and physical abuse for failing to meet targets.
Dyson, which ended its contract with ATA in 2021, denies the allegations and argued the case should be heard in Malaysia. However, the Court of Appeal overturned an earlier ruling, deciding that London is the proper forum for the case.
A Dyson spokesperson expressed disagreement with the decision and confirmed the company is reviewing its legal options.
